Newton, KS

75.4 miles of suckin' wind. It's getting real desolate out here.

I just passed up a guest bedroom offer and I'm already kicking myself.
In my mind I was thinking how awkward it would have been if I showed
up with them to their parents place on Mother's Day like a stray
dog. ...yea I'm an idiot.

Happy Mother's Day!

Guilty Pleasure

64.3 miles to Eureka, KS

In my defense there is a tornado warning til 9 tonight.

Out of curiosity I wanted to see what this motel would charge me.
After whining them down to $26 no tax I gave in.

I figure I could use a shower. Plus I can make ramen with their
microwave.

Chanute, KS

45.2 miles to Chanute, KS.

Mo Turtles

I've lost track of how many turtles I've taken off the road. This
little guy was so fast.

Kansas

Today I did 82.5 miles to Girard, KS. Bill from back at the farm drove
9 miles or so to bring me my lock I forgot. Then a woman I was talking
to at a diner picked up my check without telling me. People are so nice.

What isn't as nice is having to ride around floods and construction
detours. And riding through mud.

Anyways next state.

Lots of Water

There is a lake where the road should be.

Rained Out

Yesterday I only made it 9.7 miles when I figured it wasn't going to
stop raining. While I was just looking for a place to get indoors, I
found out about this farm.
Anyways the guy who's place it was Bill let me stay for 10 bucks.
Indoors on a rainy day plus food plus cable tv, not too bad.

Other People Riding

On my way to Ash Grove I met these two riding from Florida to British
Columbia Canada. They've done a bunch of long rides and were real nice.

49.7 miles today to Ash Grove, MO where the VFW is no longer bike
friendly, so I'm camping in the rain.

Hubble

65 miles today to Marshfield, MO. They got one of these things.

Houston, MO

44.3 miles.
Camping at Emmit Kelly Park on Houston, MO.
