Day off in Quy Nhon

Still ahead of schedule so we decided to take another day off as there was much to see right in town. First stop of the morning was the Long Khanh pagoda. It is one of the more elaborate we have seen with a 56ft Buddha statue on its grounds.

If you look close you will notice a swastika on the chest. As it turns out they used the symbol long before the nazis. People here don’t seem to be aware or care much as we have seen them repeatedly on architecture throughout the trip.

Next we took a walk to the Thap Doi Cham towers. You can climb inside and look straight up through to the sky. Pretty impressive.

All that plus the beach, another museum and more good food made this a pretty enjoyable stop.

We made it.

Well after a long trip we made it to Hanoi.

Setup the bikes and everything looks good.

Now we are going to check out Hanoi for a few days before starting our ride.

Touring with front basket.

Not being completely sure how hard vegan food will be to find on the Vietnam tour, we will be using a front basket to carry extra a surplus.

This will be our first time with this set up but it’s been useful so far and the Wald basket is solid.

Tijuana, Mexico

Yesterday I went the 25.2 miles across the border to Mexico. I stayed
in Tijuana, which was wild. No border control whatsoever getting in,
so cool.

As much as I'd love to keep going, this is where I call it quits. This
trip has been 3 months 20 days, and 5204.4 miles I won't forget.
Thanks to everyone that checked in on me from time to time.

From here it's public transportation for me, making some stops along
the way. So the way back should be a little quicker.

Thanks again, later,
Mike

Carlsbad, CA

93.6 miles. It's kind of sad, but this will most likely be my last
night camping. My 30 dollar tent worked like a champ.

Today the route I was following went through Pendleton Miltary Base.
Only the asshole at the entrance denied me cause I didn't have a
helmet. I guess he might not really be an asshole, he's just trained
to be an idiot.

Cause of that I did meet a bunch of kids in the same boat. They turned
out to be real cool, and when I ran into them again they gave me food.
